Session Outline

The session introduces a foundational framework for data-driven problem solving using first principles. It explores the benefits of using first principles reasoning, breaking down the problems into fundamental components, and then explores an application of this framework for modeling and planning the charging infrastructure for Tesla.

Key Takeaways

  • What is first principles reasoning?
  • First principles reasoning vs reasoning by analogy.  System 1 vs System 2
  • A universal framework for solving data science problems.
  • How to incorporate first principles at every step of the framework.
  • Example application of framework at Tesla – modeling and planning charging infrastructure at a global scale
