Speaker Bio

Danijela Horak – Head of AI Research – BBC R&D | BBC

Danijela Horak is a mathematician and machine learning expert who currently works as the Head of Machine Learning at BBC, R&D. She leads a team of researchers and engineers to develop cutting-edge AI solutions and conduct innovative research in the fields of computer vision, natural language processing, speech-to-text transcription, and recommender systems. 

Before joining BBC, she worked as the Director of Machine Learning at AIG, where she led a global team of machine learning scientists to deliver state-of-the-art AI solutions for the AI-first CRE products. She also has experience in compression algorithms, compressive sensing, wavelets, and topological data analysis from her previous position .

She holds a PhD in Mathematics from the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences and has

published papers on topics such as stochastic algebraic topology, random manifolds, topic modelling, evaluation of generative models, etc.
